I would say in space there is no need for aerodynamics but you do lan on the planet quite a bit.
Might be beneficial for deceleration on re-entry?
I think because it's a grav engine aerodynamics are unimportat. The engine destroys the land tile so air presumably isn't a problem. You can fly with zero thrusters they just make landings less error prone.
