Hi All !

I did my best to do a little wiki about PieFed. I'm not completly sastified with what i wrote but it is the first step. We will improve it :D

We are missing some feature as notification. Maybe its organization is messy. X)

Feedback are welcome. I also want to do a FAQ, so do hesitate to send us your questions in comment.

Thank a lot for your help :)

PieFed wiki

Edit : Very cool thank you to you all :D
i added some line to developp another topic about conspiracy and alt-right pipeline.

As for the wiki on piefed app, i will do a table with the most essential features of Piefed :
- multicommunity
- flairs and tags
- mod and admin tool

Wow. This is great that you're doing this.

I've done a quick read. It's very nicely done.

I'll look at it in more detail this weekend and follow it. I'll let you know about suggestions.

Great stuff!

This is great!

I was actually planning to make something similar in Japanese, so I’ll definitely use this as a reference. Thanks!

Thanks, snoopy! I'll type check it later :^)

Comments from other communities

Are they going to add why they hide the modlog and don’t disclose admins?

Because it seems to be a lot of problematic users who really really really care about down votes and want an echo chamber.

Like, transparency is what broughta lot of people to the diverse, and piefed.social seems to be all the worst parts we left on teddit

I’m staff on piefed.social. For some reason your comment isn’t federating to piefed.social currently. So I’m replying here.

I don’t follow.

For some reason your comment isn’t federating to piefed.social currently.

They never do…

That’s why I tried to find their modlog, there’s no link but you can just type it in like that, but I’m not listed as banned or anything I could find.

I don’t follow.

A lot of the people who ran communities on lemmy.world and banned people for down voting have been pushing piefed.social very hard. Pugjesus for example has been ridiculous and making alts to avoid his lemmy.world ban. And he seems to be by far the most active user/mod over there.

Just the practice of closing communities and repeatedly directing people to a new instance because the sole mod was banned is a bad practice. I honestly don’t know why lemmy.world admins are still letting them do it.

But all that is what my opinion on piefed.social is based on.

Admittedly, once I figured out none of my comments ever show up there, I just blocked the whole instance. Maybe it was/is a glitch? But to me it appeared that whoever created the instance, just shadowbans people they don’t agree with.

I figured this would be an opportunity to find out more, and you have helped, I at least know who the admins are now.

You’re not banned. I can ask rimu to look it if you want. It’s strange, but presumably if it is a bug - it’s more than you affected.

Yeah, he came to piefed - but that is just one guy. I know he runs a bunch of communities but it is just one person.

Also, he’s not banned on lemmy.world? Not from what I can see.

It is a glitch as far as I know. I don’t suppose blocking an instance also blocks comments made by you to users and communities on that instance.

You have zero history when viewed from piefed.social.

I can ask rimu to look it if you want. It’s strange, but presumably if it is a bug - it’s more than you affected.

Yeah, it’s not like I’m an expert on how all this works, just realized my comments werent federating and poked around a little. So if you want to look into it I’ll unblock the instance and see if it works.

Also, he’s not banned on lemmy.world? Not from what I can see.

I blocked their main probably over a year ago, but they had an alt get instance banned:

https://lemmy.world/u/PugJesus@lemmy.dbzer0.com

So they make posts about moving to piefed.social from other alts, which is the only reason I saw them. There was a dozen in a row on /all, so I downvoted them all. I just don’t think that’s how the fediverse should be handled. If a community is “closed” clear the community and someone else can start from scratch.

Without finding the admin list you provided, it seemed a safe assumption the person pushing it the most was heavily involved.

I don’t suppose blocking an instance also blocks comments made by you to users and communities on that instance.

Not that I know of, I just didn’t want to see posts where my comments wouldn’t be seen anyways. But if you’re looking into it, I’ll unblock and see what else is over there besides PJ’s nonsense.

But thanks again for the answers! It does seem like I was making bad assumptions.

Oh, you mean banned from dbzer0. I thought you meant from lemmy.world.

Well that’s a difference of opinion regarding community building that goes beyond PugJesus. Obviously this is a relatively controversial user beyond this, but plenty of communities have closed up and moved to other instances. Or consolidated in order to merge audiences.

Well the television and movies communities are based there. A lot of lemm.ee content went straight to piefed.social.

And I will ask rimu or wjs to look into why your comments weren’t/aren’t federating. As you can see - your profile is empty when viewed from piefed.social.

but plenty of communities have closed up and moved to other instances. Or consolidated in order to merge audiences.

No worries, I know I’m opinionated and not everyone shares those opinions.

Well the television and movies communities are based there

Yeah, been a minute and I’m going off memory, but there had to have been something over there I wanted to engage with, or else I wouldn’t have made comments to begin with.

So we’re cool, and thanks again.

Interesting, i saw a similar comment. Well i disagree because there is a balance with transparency and privacy.

Firstly, Piefed UI is slightly different from lemmy and it evolves very very quickly. If you tried it last month, it may be no longer true.

Maybe there is federation issue.

There is a modlog :
- https://piefed.social/modlog https://feddit.fr/modlog look at the footer of piefed instance.
- admins are disclosed here along staff members : https://piefed.zip/about https://piefed.social/about

Mind, the moderation on PieFed is different from lemmy. In fact, we have 2 admins role : admin and staff.

The vote system is diffferent from Reddit and lemmy :

  • you can “protect” your privacy by making your vote only visible to local user
  • on community, you can block downvote from account that aren’t members of community
  • account that downvote too much will see their downvote ability removed. If there is a good balance between upvote-downvote, it shouldn’t be an issue. The correct way is to block a community.

Also we offer some filter to remove Trump/Elon from your timelime.

I think you should join PieFed chat so we can understand where the issue is, and listen to you. Maybe there is a federation issue between lemmy and piefed modlog ?

Maybe you prefer lemmy and that’s cool. :)

No worries, Skavau provided answers, but thanks for the offer.

Cool, i’m glad you found the answer :)
