Emails arriving late Friday afternoon

submitted by
A person closing their laptop, flipping the bird (middle finger) at the screen with the caption “The last thing an email sees at 4:00 Friday afternoon”

I set an Outlook event for 4-5 (16:00-17:00) on Friday (“Errands”) and someone had the audacity to schedule a meeting from 5 to 5:30. Bro, did you think I was coming back to work??

Pff. Unless I know you or you’re in my area, anything after 12 on a Friday doesn’t get actioned until Tuesday due to the “Friday backlog”. A concept entirely made up while I action all the stuff coming in on Monday.

Am I manipulating my entire organisation? Sure. Has it worked over time? Certainly. The more you treat a team or department like a last minute dumping ground, well you can expect the expected results.

Edit: Oh and marking the email priority as “Important” lets us know it’s definitely not, so it goes toward the back of the queue.

Exactly, I feel the same way before 9 on Monday.

Its always the people that don’t get shit done that want to try to call you or email you before 9 on Monday to look like they’re up and running and doing shit.

I actually don’t touch any of these until 10 or 11 on Monday. If they’re critical, there will be a teams msg long before that

Lol a single solitary downvote from either a bot, or someone that says shit like “tHaT’s TiMe ThEFt!”

If it’s important pick up the phone 🤷

No please don’t

Sok we won’t answer it.
